Equine Touch developed by Jock Ruddock- equine bodywork discipline and Canine Touch developed by Ivana Ruddock

EQUINE TOUCH

What is Equine Touch?

This unique, non-invasive energy and muscle release equine bodywork discipline was developed by Jock Ruddock in 1997. The purpose is to allow the equine to re-balance and relax itself so as to improve the animals wellbeing - it is a holistic technique and benefits the whole animal and not a specific injury or disease.  However, after an Equine Touch session, various ailments are believed to respond well to this technique.

A series of set movements are used on the body's soft tissue which have been carefully researched by Jock Ruddock for their effects when applied - these movements include energy releasing; lymphatic drainage; stretching and manipulation of deep tissue.

Equine Touch can help any horse - whether a competition or leisure horse, young or old.

Equine Touch is not intended as a substitute for veterinary advice or treatment. If in doubt, please consult your Veterinary Surgeon.  Always ensure that any practicioner you use is fully qualified.

What qualifications does an Equine Touch practicioner need?

There are 3 different levels of Equine Touch course that can be undertaken:

bullet

Level 1 - Foundation;

bullet

Level 2 - Advanced;

bullet

Level 3 - Practicioner

Levels 1 and 2 are nationally accredited under the UK Government's new 'Framework for Achievement' initiative, (Level 3 will soon be too).

Each level requires attendance at a course (each lasting several days) covering both theoretical and practical work with Levels 2 and 3 also having assessments.  On successful completion of Level 3, a Practicioners Diploma will be issued, after which insurance can normally be obtained to practise as an Equine Touch practicioner.

For further information on UK Equine Touch courses please visit the International Equine Touch website at: http://uk.theequinetouch.com/schedules.html or telephone the National Co-ordination Centre on: 0871 6412118

CANINE TOUCH

The Canine Touch was developed by Dr Ivana Ruddock and is a body-balancing technique for dogs.  Although it shares the same principles as Equine Touch it does vary slightly due to the differences between horses and dogs (e.g. physiology, behaviourial and emotional traits).

It is possible for dog owner's to study Canine Touch to use on their own dogs or alternatively, for those who wish to become professional practicioners, there is a Practioner Diploma that can be obtained.
