ALOE VERA

Facts about the plant

Aloe Vera is a plant that belongs to the lily family thus is related to garlic, onion and asparagus.  There are over 200 types of Aloe Vera, of these only 4 or 5 are commonly used.  The most widely used variety is Aloe Vera Barbadensis.

Taranet are Independent Distributors for Forever Living Products (FLP) who use Aloe Vera Barbadensis.  

You should also make sure that the Aloe Vera product carries the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) seal of approval. The IASC is an independent regulatory body which monitors the quantity of Aloe Vera in the products.  FLP was the first company in the UK and Europe to market products authorised to carry the International Aloe Science Council Seal of Approval.

The components of Aloe Vera can be divided into -

bulletvitamins - It contains a wide range - including the anti oxidant vitamins' C and E and Beta Carotene. It also has one of the few plant sources in the world of vitamin B12.
bulletenzymes - Includes Lipases and proteases.
bulletanthraquinones - Is found in small quantities and those present have a variety of uses.
bulletsalycilic acid - Naturally occurring substance with a variety of uses.
bulletminerals - Essential but needed only in small quantities includes -  calcium, manganese, zinc, copper, chromium,  sodium, magnesium, potassium and iron.
bulletsaponins - Capable of cleansing.
bulletlignin - Inclusion in topical preparations allows Aloe Vera to have a penetrative effect into the skin.  
bulletamino acids.

Aloe Vera - Information on Usage

bulletWhen used topically, sometimes a 'healing crisis' can occur, i.e. - looks worse before they get better.  This can last for 5-10 days.  
bulletThere are no known contaminants.
bulletTopical applications need to be applied more frequently than steroid/antibiotic creams.
bulletCombined use of Aloe Vera products orally and topically often produces better results in skin conditions.
bulletNo adverse side effects have been reported in over 30 years of usage.
bulletHas been found to work in conjunction with conventional drugs with no adverse effects.
